Steve is a Health Education Specialist with the Health Communications Branch of the CDC Office on Smoking and Health (OSH). In this role, he develops and disseminates publications, presentations, and other materials on tobacco topics, responds to internal, public, and press inquiries, and tracks news media coverage of tobacco issues. Steve also serves as strategic coordinator for OSH’s secondhand smoke activities. Prior to his current position, Steve spent three years as a Program Consultant with the OSH Program Services Branch, where he provided technical assistance to state tobacco control programs. Prior to that, Steve spent six years as a regional field director with the New Mexico tobacco control program, where he worked with several community coalitions that were developing local smoke-free policies. Prior to his New Mexico position, Steve worked as a health educator in a tobacco control program in a county Health Department in California. Before that, Steve worked as a researcher, writer, and editor for the Hesperian Foundation, a nonprofit organization that addresses health issues in developing countries. |
