Since January, 2001, Mr. London has worked in the Health Communications Branch of CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health where he is currently a senior press officer.  Mr. London has experience and training in health communication strategies, social marketing principles, communication materials development and testing, health communication program evaluation, and media relations.  As a former acting team lead in the Office on Smoking and Health (OSH), Health Communications Branch, Joel coordinated the media rollout event for the release of the 2006 Health Consequences of Involuntary Exposure to Tobacco Smoke: A Report of the Surgeon General, including the production of all related materials such as press kits, posters, and the consumer-friendly What It Means to You publication.  Joel also serves as a consultant for a communications research project in the Office on Smoking and Health that monitors and analyzes tobacco news stories in select newspapers and on television.

Mr. London holds a Masters in Public Health from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta, Georgia.
