The Summer Institute 2008 is being held at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, Arizona.  The conference will take place on Monday, July 21st through Wednesday, July 23rd with pre-conference courses beginning on Sunday, July 20th.  Courses will include expert instruction and applied activities to increase practicable knowledge, build capacity, and increase competency in the area of tobacco prevention and control.

The Summer Institute Goals
  • Strengthen the Tobacco Prevention and Control Workforce through capacity building and advanced educational training
  • Facilitate new partnerships and strengthen existing collaborations through networking
  • Provide a forum where practitioners can come together to share innovative uses of products and successful implementations of tobacco prevention and control programs
There are over 20 courses from which participants can choose to enroll, ranging from courses addressing coalition building to courses dedicated to the evaluation of tobacco prevention and control programs.  All of the course trainers are experts in their specific course topics and have been recommended by leaders in the field.

Choosing only two courses in which to participate may be a bit of a challenge considering the vast amount of interesting course topics; therefore, The Summer Institute will provide each participant with a CD-Rom that will include all course curriculum and materials offered at The Summer Institute.
